Computers & Internet Access:
The Berlin Public Library has Internet access computers available for its patrons use. Computers are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Patrons wishing to use the Internet are asked to sign-up at the appropriate front desk. Computer usage is limited to 1 hour per day. There is no charge for use of the computers. There is a 15¢ per page charge for printed pages. Printing is only available in black and white, single sided pages.
The Adult Department has seven (7) Internet access computer stations and one (1) word processing computer station. Patrons in grade 8 and above have access to these computers.
The Children’s Department has (3) Internet access computer stations. Patrons in grade 7 or lower have access to these computers.
Computer Use Rules:
Only 1 person is allowed at each computer station.
Each patron has a daily one-hour limit on computer use. Unused time cannot be accumulated for use on another day.
Each patron is responsible for keeping track of time to ensure the hour time limit is not exceeded.
Failure to sign in and/or out may result in lost of computer usage for that day.
Upon being advised time is up the patron must leave the computer. If the patron chooses not to leave and needs to be told a second time, the patron will lose computer privileges for the next five days the library is open.
If library staff must speak with patron about computer rules more than 2 times, the patron could lose privileges for the rest of the day, five days, ten days or indefinitely.
Intentionally entering the incorrect time for signing in and/or out will result in loss of computer privileges for the next ten days.
Any disturbances and/or harassment will result in permanent loss of computer privileges and/or library privileges.
No food or drink are allowed at computer stations.
