RiverFire 2008 Coming Soon
October 4, 2008 - Northern Forest Heritage Park

        Mark your calendar for RiverFire 2008 today.  Voted Best in NH North Woods Spectacle for 2007, RiverFire 2008 will be held on Saturday, October 4, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., along the Androscoggin River.  Filled with fun and excitement, this is a great family event. A full afternoon of family fun is highlighted by beautiful fire displays at dusk on the Androscoggin River in Berlin, NH.  Free admission to the Park during the program.

                Tickets will be on sale soon for the exciting RiverFire 2008 Duck Race.  Kicking off RiverFire 2008 the annual Duck Race will begin at 3:00 with seven hundred (700) yellow ducks being released into the Androscoggin River from the Twelfth Street Bridge.  Ducks will float down the Androscoggin River to the Horne Field Park.  Cash prizes will be won by the first, second and third place ducks to cross the finish line.  A special bonus prize duck will be drawn and the winner will receive two Boston Bruins tickets that have been donated by Munce's Superior.  Tickets will be on sale from committee members and at Hall of Greetings, Main Street, Berlin.  Only 700 tickets will be sold, so buy your ticket(s) early.

        A new event to RiverFire 2008 will be a Bingo sponsored by the Androscoggin Valley Chamber of Commerce.  Cards will sell for $1.00 and all games will be held under shelter.  

        The very popular Hayride will be open from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Northern Forest Heritage Park.   This event, coordinated by the Main Street Program draws a big crowd so come early.  The prices this year will be $3.00 for adults and $2.00 for children.  Children under 5 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.  

The "Kiddie" Carnival with home grown traditional games will be opening at 3:00 p.m. and continuing until 8:00 p.m.  This fun "KIDS ZONE" offers games such as dart throw, fish pond, wheel of fortune and much more.  Tickets are 5 for $1.00, one ticket per game.  Small novelty prizes will be awarded.  

Debbie Patrick and her committee of hungry judges are asking all bakers to submit their delicious Apple pies for the Apple Pie Baking contest.  Prizes to the top three winners will include gift certificates to local restaurants.  Pies should be delivered to the stage area no later than 3:30 p.m. with judging beginning at 4:00 p.m..  Pies become the property of the event and will be sold by the slice for $1.00 after judging is completed.

The musical entertainment for the day will kick off with a performance of the TimothyPaul Band who has recently signed a recording contract to the Tate Music Group in Mustang, OK.  Featuring Timothy Donovan, Sr., Richard Labonville, Timmy Donovan, Karen Schooner, and Wil Cintron, this successful band will bring you to your feet with a collaboration of East Coast Jive, R&B and Rock.  This group will play on the Heritage Park Stage following the pie judging at approximately 4:30.

 Pam Laflamme and Timothy Donovan Sr. are working to put together Riverfire's second annual Berlin Has Talent Show.  This entertaining competition is open to all musicians with first prize being a recording session at Riverside Recording Studio located in Berlin, NH.  Riverside Recording Studios (www.riversiderecording.com) is a relaxed, professional recording studio for musician.  Registration is limited to the first ten acts to register.  To pre-register please call the Berlin Recreation & Parks department at 752-1272 or take your chances and come to the Riverfire stage no later than 5:00 p.m. on the day of the event.  All performers must provide their own CD and music.   

Carnival Style Food Vendors will be available throughout the event in the Northern Forest Heritage Park.  No fee is required to enter The Northern Forest Heritage Park food vendor area and general admission to the park is free.  

And don't forget the highlight of our program, the spectacular RiverFires being displayed at dusk.  These beautiful fires magically float on the surface of the Androscoggin River into the evening.  Be sure to come early and find a good viewing spot to enjoy the tranquil and mesmerizing effects of flames flickering on a beautiful fall evening.
