Something for Everyone - Check out these Programs!
NEW PROGRAM – BUILDING BLOCKS FOR AGES 3, 4, & 5:  This is a new developmentally appropriate playgroup led by Matthew & Jennifer Buteau.  Structured activities starting Saturday February 18 for six weeks.  9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at Berlin Recreation Center.  $30.00 for the six week program or pay a $6.00 weekly fee the day of the program.  Anyone paying the full $30.00 in advance by February 13 will be eligible for the Incentive Raffle.  Parents are asked to stay with the children for the hour-long program.   Limited room in the program.  Register early!  Call 752-2010 for more information.

ADULT WALKING IS UP AND RUNNING at the Berlin Junior High School.  Keep exercising during the winter weather!  Mondays and Wednesdays, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.  $15.00 per person.  Pick up pass at Berlin Recreation Center.  Pass is valid until March, 2012.

COSMIC BOWLING WITH PIZZA, SODA & MAKE YOUR OWN SUNDAE:  $10.00 is all it costs to take part in the “cosmic” experience during February school vacation.  Wednesday, February 22, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Any age can join.  Register at the Berlin Recreation Center.  Maximum of 40 participants.  Call 752-2010 if any questions.

LITTLE TYKES PLAYGROUND:  Potty-trained three to five year olds do a variety of activities under the direction of Instructor Sylvia Ramsey.  Crafts, basic lessons, story, snacks and play time.  Next session begins Monday, February 27 for eight weeks.  Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.  Fee is $96.00.  Pay in full by February 21 to be eligible for the next Incentive Raffle.

2012 31ST ANNUAL BERLIN RECREATION EASTER EGGSTRAVAGANZA” Join this fast-paced-run through the Berlin Recreation gym on Saturday, March 31st.   FREE but donations always accepted.  Please attend at following times:  9:30 a.m. for ages 2 & 3; 9:45 a.m. for ages 4 & 5; 10:00 a.m. for ages 6 & 7; 10:15 a.m. for ages 8, 9, & 10.  (Parents of children with allergies need to be aware candy may contain products your child should not consume).

16TH ANNUAL FIRST OF THE SEASON GIANT INDOOR YARD SALE:  Saturday, April 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  $10.00 reserves a 10 x 15’ space.  Restrictions on raffles and selling of food.  Please call 752-2010 if any questions.  Limited space available.  Search your closets for your treasures and join us on the 14th!

FREE CRAFT CLASSES takes place most Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Berlin Recreation Center.  3:00 – 4:30 p.m.  No cost, but please call 752-2010 to make sure we can fit you in.  Create amazing crafts from recycled items with the help of Instructor Sylvia Ramsey.

BERLIN VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION AWARD:  The Volunteer Tree at City Hall will be adding “volunteer leaves” this spring to recognize deserving Berlin citizens who are making a difference in the community.  Nominations forms with more detailed information on the Volunteer Award Tree and its significance may be picked up at the Berlin Recreation and Parks Department, 672 First Avenue, Berlin.  You may also call the office at 752-2010 to have a nomination form faxed or mailed to you.  Deadline to nominate for the 2nd Annual Volunteer Recognition Awards is March 15.  The awards will be given in the following categories:
Recreation/Sports – volunteer who supports activities in Berlin Recreation, Berlin School sports or other city sponsored leisure events.
Humanities/Arts – volunteer who supports humanities and arts in the community such as the Berlin Public Library or Berlin Public Schools Arts and Music programs.
Education – volunteer in support of the Berlin Public Schools.
Government – volunteer on a city board or other function of the government of the city.
Grounds & Special Outdoor Projects – volunteer who assists in the care for city property, infrastructure, mowing, painting, etc.
