The health officer will provide you will basic information concerning West Nile Virus and EEE. Depending on the condition of the bird, manner of death, and species the health officer will come to your home and collect the bird. The health officer will contact the state laboratory and ask if the bird should be transported for testing. The state will use specific criteria to determine if the bird should be transported and tested, not all birds fit the criteria. If the state wants to test the bird the health officer will transport or coordinate the transport of the bird to the laboratory.
