Winter Parking Ban in Effect November 1

The City of Berlin Winter Parking Ban begins on November 1st and goes through April 1st.

Per City Ordinance the Parking Ban states that no vehicle can be parked on any city street between the hours of midnight and 7:00am, or it may be subject to a parking ticket and/or towing.

Sec. 15-81. Overnight parking during winter.

(a) It shall be unlawful for the owner or operator of any vehicle to park said vehicle on any street or municipal parking area in the city between the first of November of each year and the first day of April of the following year between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 7:00 a.m., except that emergency overnight parking shall be permitted upon the Tondreau Parking Lot, so called, which is located between the east and west spans of the Mason Street Bridge.

(b) During the months of October and April of each year, the Police Chief is authorized to prohibit parking on city streets between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 7:00 a.m. when necessary to accomplish snow plowing and/or snow removal, provided the Police Chief provides public notice of parking prohibition through public media. When parking is prohibited under this provision it shall be unlawful for the owner or operator of any motor vehicle to violate this parking prohibition.

(c) Overnight winter parking in the parking spaces located on the west side of the municipal parking lot adjacent to the Berlin Salvation Army Community Center is permitted. The purpose of this is to provide a place for residents of the downtown area to park their vehicles off the street in the winter.
