City Manager's Report 01/02/2007
Christmas Tree Pickup
PWD will be picking up Christmas Trees in Wards 1 and 4 on Friday January 12th and in Wards 2 and 3 on Friday January 19th. Christmas Trees may also be brought to the Tondreau Parking Lot.
Budget Getting Underway
This week we will be sending out the annual operating budget request forms to all the Departments to begin the budget process.
Highway Block Grant Funding
Attached is a communication from NHDOT providing us with their estimate of the FY 08 funding of the Highway Block Grant Aid. They are estimating we will receive $191,713 in FY 08. This compares with $189,000 we expect to receive this year (FY07) although $198,000 was the State’s original estimate for this year.
Time Warner Price Cable Increase
Attached is correspondence from Time Warner Cable notifying us of another price increase to go into effect for Cable Service effective February 1, 2007.
Letter on Home Health Nursing Services
I have attached a really nice letter which was in the Sun regarding the response and care Jill Dube made in response to an emergency falling incident on the night of December 14, in Milan. Jill works for the Berlin Health Department as a nurse. The letter speaks for itself and is certainly indicative of the kind of response and care we all wish to receive and is provided by the Berlin Health Department.
Highway Trade Legislation
I have attached a copy of the Bill put together by Legislative Services at the behest of DRED and DOT which would put into effect the proposal we made to the State that the State take over Jericho Lake Road from the City making it a State Class III Recreational Highway in exchange for the City taking over Cates Hill Road as a Class V City street. I don’t believe the Bill has actually been introduced yet but Representative Mears will be doing so shortly if he has not done so already.
411 School Street Revitalization Project
On Thursday, December 21, the CDFA Board awarded the City a $12,000 CDBG Grant to help fund a feasibility study to determine the best use of the NDHS building. One of the considerations will be an assisted living facility. The study will identify costs estimates to renovate the building for various uses and potential funding sources
